Dedicated to historic preservation, Historic Denton began the process to develop National Register districts in 2014. Working with the Texas Historical Commission, historical surveys led to the creation of The John B. Denton College Neighborhood National Register district, supporting owners and offering economic development incentives.

 

Historic Denton's mission continues in creating historical surveys focused on original 1921 residential neighborhoods to continue National Register district  recognition, the highest acknowledgment of historic places awarded by the US Department of the Interior, US Park Service to encourage restoration of buildings and promote historic preservation.
